Project Brief
Following the closure of one of their buildings, SMS Bolton needed to relocate over 30 staff into their existing training centre. This move required a complete upgrade of the third-floor facilities to support both staff and ongoing training operations, transforming the space into a modern and functional working environment.

Premier FM were appointed to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment, combining construction, interior fit-out and electrical work to reconfigure the space.
Key services included:
- Joinery and construction to knock through four rooms
- Full decoration and painting
- New electrical installations
- Carpet fitting
- New grid ceilings fitted with energy-efficient LED lighting
- Construction of a new office using partitioning
The total project budget was approximately £130,000, with a five-month timeframe from initial enquiry to completion.
Before Our Work
The project involved working within a building originally constructed in 1902, with SMS occupying the third floor. The age and location of the premises presented logistical and structural challenges, which were carefully managed throughout the programme.
To minimise disruption, the refurbishment was carried out room by room, allowing employees and training delegates to continue working throughout the project.

Reconfigured Spaces
As part of the project, Premier FM provided detailed layout drawings and desk configurations across all areas, ensuring the new setup met the client’s operational needs and made the most of the available space.
- Old boardroom and three admin rooms reconfigured into a new contact centre
- Creation of a staff room and contact centre extension
- Classroom converted into a boardroom
- Construction of a new senior managers’ office
- Existing admin office divided into a prayer room and admin space
- Full refurbishment of gents’ toilets, including the installation of an accessible toilet with foot wash and bidet
- Refurbishment of the reception centre and central area
